My Daily Walk
I am 63 years old. When I was 50, I was overweight and decided it was time to do something about it. So, I began a walking routine which soon built up to three miles every day. I also cut down on calories and lost the weight I desired to lose.
I continued this daily walking routine for 9 (nine!) years missing only when there were occasional interruptions when I took trips away from home and when I sprained my ankle. I walked the same route and got to know many of the people and their dogs.
Approaching my 60th birthday, I found that sidewalk walking was bothering my hips and legs, so I enrolled with the YMCA and have been an active member there ever since working with the cross trainer, treadmill and weights. I try to exercise every other day spending about two hours which includes relaxation in the whirlpool.
On occasion, I will walk the 3-mile route just to say hello to my friends!
