Symptoms of memory problems
- Forgetfulness
- Inability to recall events
- Trouble completing routine tasks
What you can do to assist with memory
- Make lists
- Follow a routine
- Use landmarks to help you find places
- Keep a detailed calendar
- Put important items, such as your keys, in the same place every time
- Repeat names when you meet somebody new
- Running the ABCs through your head will help you think of words you can't remember. Hearing the first letter of a word may jog your memory.
When to call your primary care provider
- Sudden memory loss
- Memory loss that interferes with the ability to function normally
- Confusion
- Decreased alertness
