Trans Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA)

Breast Implants without Visible Scars

Prevea plastic surgeon Michael Janitch, MD, now offers an alternative to traditional breast augmentation services through the Trans Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) procedure.

During this procedure, a slender tube is passed through a small incision in the navel and then up under the skin to the proper location behind muscle and breast tissue. An empty implant is inserted through this tube and then filled with sterile saline.

With a minimal incision there is less post-operative pain and risk of injury to sensory nerves, which means most women can return to work and other normal activities within a few days.

The TUBA procedure is most appropriate for women who have well-developed breasts but, due to pregnancy, breast-feeding or age, desire rounder and fuller breasts.

The benefits of TUBA include:

• A single small scar hidden in the navel
• Shorter recovery period
• Little tissue trauma and bleeding
• Less post-operative pain
• Less risk of injury to the nerves that supply sensation to the nipple area
• Minimal interruption to normal breast tissue
