I enjoy taking care of patients and their families who are struggling with the diagnosis of cancer. I feel it is a distinct privilege to be able to be part of someone's life at this difficult time. I hope that I am able to help families regain some sense of control in their world as they wade through the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Our team provides hope through quality care, access to the best and latest treatments, and education to aid in understanding it all. I spent 16 years as a nurse practitioner in outpatient general pediatrics before coming to this department. The bottom line is to never lose sight of the fact that your patient is still a child and his or her parents are trying to take care of them in the best way they can. Our team tries to keep a degree of normalcy in the child's life while undergoing cancer treatment, or to help them adjust to a "new normal" that still embodies the joy of life and all there is to do in that life. I enjoy the fact that most kids do well and recover from their illnesses and that I can help provide comfort to those families who don't win their cancer battles.I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have two wonderful young adult children. My personal interests include gardening, cooking, travel, and family activities.
