I chose nursing because I wanted to help others and I was fascinated with how the human body works. I have an older sister who is a nurse, so witnessing her experiences during nursing school also inspired me.My nursing background involves mostly ENT with many years spent in the operating room gaining an appreciation of ENT procedures and reasons for surgery. I was fortunate to gain an education during this time from many otolaryngologists before I returned to graduate school. I also worked in ENT clinics and spent much time caring for patients over the phone.I believe education is vital for the patient and their caregivers. Providing information about health, illness and disease processes helps patients understand how to better care for themselves. There is a need to be continually learning in this ever-changing world.I have certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner and in Otolaryngology Nursing and Operating Room Nursing.Outside of work, I enjoy reading, sewing, crafts, baking, walking and spending time with my family and our dog.
