Prevea Health

HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital and Prevea Health

Where technology and expertise meet

Meet our surgeons:
Christopher Garces, MD, FACS General Surgeon
Jessica Leszczynski, DO Obstetrician and Gynecologist

The highly-skilled surgeons at Prevea Health work hand-in-hand with the surgical staff at HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital to provide high quality surgical care. And, thanks to advanced robotic technology, they are able to do it with even more precision and better outcomes for patients.
We use the da Vinci Surgical System which provides a less-invasive technique than traditional surgery.  The da Vinci offers a three-dimensional, high-definition (3D-HD) vision system, special instruments and computer software that allows surgeons to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control.
After a surgical site is accessed through tiny incisions, the system translates the surgeon’s hand movement into smaller, more precise actions of the instruments inside the patient’s body. The da Vinci instruments have mechanical wrists that bend and rotate to mimic the movement of the human wrist. And, a 3D-HD image is highly magnified, offering surgeons a close-up view of the surgical site.
Robotic procedures are always performed entirely by a surgeon. Our surgeons have undergone extensive training, providing them with the advanced skill and expertise to offer patients this level of advanced surgical technology.

Robotic-assisted surgery provides the following benefits to patients so you can quickly return to normal activities:

  • Surgery is minimally-invasive, with reduced scarring
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Quicker recovery
  • Less pain medication is required

Robotic-assisted surgery may be an option for patients having general and gynecologic related surgery.
