Be a Stroke Hero!

Have you ever thought of yourself as a hero? Well, believe it or not, you have the ability to be a hero just by knowing a few simple facts. You could save your life, or the life of a loved one, by knowing and recognizing the signs of a stroke. The quicker a stroke is identified, the better the outcome.
Stroke symptoms include:
  • A droopy face on one side
  • Body weakness
  • Difficulty speaking or swallowing
  • Numbness
  • Confusion/inattention
Call 911 immediately if a stroke is suspected. Although having a stroke is a very serious and scary thing, there are ways that you can decrease your risk of having this potentially disabling condition.

To prevent a stroke in the future:
  • Minimize sodium/salt intake
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Monitor/control diabetes
Being aware of and remembering these facts can help you be a hero to your children, parents, siblings or friends!
