Our compassionate therapists can help with the physical side effects before, during and after cancer treatment.

Therapy for cancer patients

Helping build strength during the cancer treatment process
Why choose physical, occupational and speech therapy for cancer rehabilitation?
No matter what type of cancer you face, it affects not just your body, but who you are as a person, and the lives of people closest to you.

The moment you’re diagnosed, you become a cancer survivor and start healing. While your oncology team treats your cancer, Prevea cancer therapists help you to be as strong and prepared as possible before, during and after treatment. Prevea’s occupational, physical, speech and lymphedema therapists are ready to help you build strength, regain confidence and take control of your life.

Prehab: know yourself

During this pre-treatment phase, a cancer rehab therapist will assess your endurance, strength, balance and sensation—all things that can be affected by cancer treatment. This information will help our medical team watch for potential side effects of your cancer treatment.

Prehab may be just one appointment before your treatment begins, or if needed, we will continue working with you as your cancer treatment begins to maintain your safety and strength. Each patient is unique, and our therapists will work with you to develop the right plan for you.

Cancer rehab: support yourself

As with many other procedures, cancer surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy and other treatments may affect your ability to function like you used to. We are here to support your healing throughout your cancer treatment program. Cancer rehab promotes full recovery and addresses the side effects from cancer treatment.

Rehab treats the physical side effects of treatment. Many patients will begin cancer rehab during their treatment, and others begin rehab after cancer treatment is completed. Cancer rehab can increase your strength and energy and help to:

  • Help return to work and family life.
  • Increase activity.
  • Increase energy, strength and stamina.
  • Improve balance and flexibility.
  • Improve control of your bowel or bladder.
  • Improve memory and concentration.
  • Improve your quality of life.
  • Minimize limitations from surgery.
  • Reduce radiation fibrosis effects.
  • Minimize problems with speech, eating or swallowing.
  • Reduce and manage swelling from lymphedema.
  • Reduce pain.

Whether you have one or several of these challenges, cancer rehab can support you with hope and healing.

Treatment is covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.

No referral needed

Direct access without a referral or prescription to physical or occupational therapy provides you with immediate access to start your treatment without delay.

Cash pay is available

We understand that in some situations, it may be less expensive to pay cash for therapy than to go through your insurance provider. And in most cases, no referral is needed.
