The New Year is a great time for a fresh start, especially when it comes to making changes in your lifestyle. Each year, top New Year’s resolutions for improving health include exercise, eating better, reducing stress and getting more sleep. While most people make New Year’s resolutions, it can be a challenge to keep them. To help you achieve your resolutions, here are five tips to carry your goals through the entire year.

Be realistic. The easiest way to succeed in your goals is by making them achievable. If your resolution is to eat healthy, start by removing one or two unhealthy foods from your diet, instead of all unhealthy foods at once.

Keep resolutions to a minimum. Pick one or two resolutions, and set reachable goals for them. Starting small can increase your chances of success.

Make a game plan and track it. Use a calendar or journal to monitor your goals. Keeping track of where you are and where you want to be will dramatically improve your success.

Have a support system. Tell your family members and friends about your resolutions. Sharing your goals with others gives you more confidence and provides accountability. If your resolutions start to seem out of reach, your family and friends can help keep you motivated.

Stick to it. It can take about 21 days for a new activity to become a habit, and up to six months for it to become a part of your personality. Take your new activities and goals one day at a time, and don’t quit!

With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to achieve your resolutions and any other goals you set your mind too!
