Breakthroughs & breaking news from the medical experts at Prevea Health

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Each year starting in fall, highly contagious respiratory illnesses including influenza (flu) and COVID-19 begin to circulate. While some may only experience mild illness with these viruses, they can have a severe impact on others including serious illness and even death.

Vaccination is critical in preventing the spread of these viruses and can help minimize symptoms experienced by those who are vaccinated but still become infected. Below is the latest information on the availability of flu and COVID-19 vaccines at Prevea Health.

Flu vaccine

Everyone 6 months and older is eligible and recommended to receive a flu vaccine. This is especially important for those at highest risk of experiencing severe symptoms, including older people, people with chronic health conditions, people who are pregnant, and young children.

Appointments for flu vaccination are available now at Prevea locations across Wisconsin including in the Greater Green Bay, Lakeshore, Northern and Western Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley communities. For a full list of locations, please visit: www.prevea.com/flu-clinics

Appointments are recommended, and can be scheduled by calling (888) 277-3832 or through the MyPrevea patient portal at myprevea.com or the MyPrevea app. For more information, including frequently-asked-questions about flu, please visit: www.prevea.com/flu

COVID-19 vaccine

Everyone 6 months and older is now eligible and recommended to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Doses of the updated vaccine, manufactured by Moderna and Pfizer, have been approved, authorized, and recommended by national health experts for the following groups.

  • Individuals 5 years of age and older regardless of previous vaccination are eligible to receive a single dose of the updated Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 2 months after the last dose of any COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Individuals 6 months through 4 years of age who have previously been vaccinated against COVID-19 are eligible to receive one or two doses of the updated Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (timing and number of doses to administer depends on the previous COVID-19 vaccine received).
  • Unvaccinated individuals 6 months through 4 years of age are eligible to receive three doses of the updated Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine or two doses of the updated Moderna vaccine.
  • Additional doses are also authorized for certain immunocompromised individuals.
  • People may receive either of the vaccines regardless of which vaccine was received in the past.

Appointments for the updated COVID-19 vaccine at Prevea locations will be available as soon as vaccine supply arrives. Prevea will keep communities informed of updated COVID-19 vaccine availability on its social media pages and website: www.prevea.com
