Foot and ankle procedure videos

Bunionectomy (and first metatarsal osteotomy)

A bunion is a bony bump, resulting from a misaligned joint, on the side of the big toe that is typically painful and may be unsightly. Bunions are primarily inherited but may be irritated or made worse by pressure from shoes. A bunionectomy is a procedure that removes the bunion and realigns the joint to relieve foot pain.

Diagnostic ankle arthroscopy

A special instrument with a miniature camera, called an arthroscope, is inserted into small incisions to see inside the joint to allow your surgeon to visualize the complex structures of your ankle under magnification without making large, open incisions. Diagnostic ankle arthroscopy is a procedure used to diagnose problems inside the ankle joint.

Total ankle replacement

Arthritis occurs as articular cartilage wears down, causing the bones to grind against each other and results in pain and inflammation, and can lead to stiffness and bone deformity. Total ankle replacement (TAR) is a surgical procedure performed to treat severe ankle arthritis. TAR removes portions of the ankle damaged by arthritis and replaces them with an artificial implant to reduce pain caused by arthritis and preserve motion in the joint.
