My philosophy in osteopathic medicine centers on treating the whole individual—mind, body and spirit to optimize performance. I combine hands-on structural assessment and osteopathic manipulative treatment with rehabilitation and lifestyle guidance, addressing not just the injury but also the underlying biomechanical and wellness factors. My connection to sports medicine grew as I was offered an incredible opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level, which was unfortunately cut short after a shoulder injury. I decided to work as a student athletic trainer for the remainder of my time in college, which gave me ample experience in sideline coverage prior to medical school. During medical school, I enjoyed performing osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for patients during my clinical rotations and I am always eager to apply the stretching and mobilization techniques that I have learned as a student athletic trainer whenever possible. This led me down the path of pursuing a residency in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Being able to apply OMT skills to sports medicine has been very helpful with treating athletes from an alternative and conservative perspective."
