Accepting new patients
“
The experiences that have shaped me most as a cardiologist are those that have taught me to see the person beyond the diagnosis. Caring for patients during moments of uncertainty has deepened my appreciation for listening, clear communication and compassion.
Learning from mentors and colleagues, navigating difficult clinical decisions, and reflecting on outcomes have helped me grow in both knowledge and judgment. My patients continue to remind me that being a cardiologist means more than treating heart disease—it means helping people understand their health and supporting them through decisions that affect their lives."
My approach to patient care starts with listening and getting to know each patient as a person. I enjoy hearing about their hobbies, their work and what makes them happy. I’ve met people who helped build the country’s first cable connections, someone who raised mink—which I didn’t even know was a type of farming—and people who make moulds and cut sheet metal without computers. I find their stories fascinating, and I’m always excited to learn something new. These conversations help me understand my patients better and connect with them. I want them to feel comfortable with me and know that I care about who they are, as well as their health."
Patients can expect me to listen, take their concerns seriously and get to know them as a person. I’ll ask about their symptoms, daily life and what they enjoy doing. I’ll explain what I find and discuss the next steps in simple words, with time for questions. My goal is for each patient to feel comfortable, heard and clear about the plan we make together.
Outside of work, I enjoy woodworking, fly fishing and hunting. I like working with my hands and making things, and I enjoy spending time outdoors. These hobbies help me relax and recharge."
