An Update on Prevea’s Western Wisconsin Operation
Osteoporosis results in more than one million fractures each year in the U.S. However, for some, it’s a condition that may go undiagnosed.

Our bones are made up of living tissue, and during our daily activities, that tissue is broken down and replaced. Osteoporosis occurs when old bone is broken down faster than the creation of new bone, leading to weak and brittle bones.

Typically people under the age of 35 build calcium, mineral and bone reserves faster than the reserves are used, building a “bank” over the lifespan.  As people age, their ability to produce new bone tissue slows, but the body’s need for calcium and other minerals does not.

If the calcium reserves in your body are not at an appropriate level, the body cannot make new bone. Special bone cells called osteoclasts remove calcium and minerals from bone, and when these materials cannot be replaced, there are small, porous openings left - known as osteoporosis.

Our team of therapists at the Prevea Fracture Center can help strengthen your bones, improve stability and increase bone density. Through weight bearing exercise, correct posture and safety with everyday activities, we can support you and your bone health. With therapeutic treatment, you can regain strength and control, getting back to living life to the fullest.
